Okushiga Kogen is part of the Shiga
Kogen region located in the heart of the Johshinetsu Kogen
National Park of Nagano Prefecture.
By car
From Tokyo
(about 5 hours)
There are two ways to get to Okushiga Kogen from Tokyo.
Either:Take the Chuo
Expressway to the Okaya J.C.T, then take the Nagano
Expressway to the Kosyoku J.C.T and head towards and past
Nagano on the Nagano Expressway. The Shinshu Nakano IC is the nearest exit to Shiga Kogen. Get off at
the Shinshu Nakano IC and follow the signs onto the
Shiga Nakano toll road for Shiga Kogen. The toll road runs
into Route 292 that takes you to Okushiga Kogen.

the Fujioka J.C.T, then take the Nagano Expressway to the
Kosyoku J.C.T and continue past Nagano on the Joshinetsu
Expressway. From there it is the same as above. |
From Nagoya (about 5
hours from the center of Nagoya)
Take the Chuo Expressway to the Okaya J.C.T, then take the
Nagano Expressway to the Kosyoku J.C.T and head towards and past
Nagano on the Nagano Expressway. The Shinshu Nakano Interchange
is the nearest exit to Shiga Kogen. Get off at the Shinshu
Nakano Interchange and follow the signs onto the Shiga Nakano
toll road for Shiga Kogen. The toll road runs into Route 292
that takes you to Okushiga Kogen.
From Osaka (about 7 hours from center of Osaka)
Take the Meishin Expressway to the Komki J.C.T, head up the Chuo
Expressway to the Okaya J.C.T, then take Nagano Expressway to
the Kosyoku J.C.T and head towards and past Nagano on the Nagano
Expressway. The Shinshu Nakano Interchange is the nearest exit
to Okushiga Kogen. Get off at the Shinshu Nakano Interchange and
follow the signs onto the Shiga Nakano toll road for Shiga
Kogen. The toll road runs into Route 292 that takes you to the Shiga Kogen
area.
By Train
Okushiga Kogen is about 1.5 hours from Nagano
Station by bus or train.
From Tokyo (about 1.5 hours from Tokyo to Nagano)
From Tokyo Station, take the Nagano Shinkansen ("Asama").
The Shinkansen "Asama" runs regularly throughout the day. Nagano is the
last stop of the Nagano Shinkansen. Get off the train at
Nagano and take the direct bus to Shiga Kogen. The buses from
Nagano to Okushiga Kogen also run throughout the day in the winter
season (with 2-4 buses running each in the summer season). The
buses depart from the East (Higashi) exit of Nagano Station from
bus stops 3 or 4, and the traveling time is about 70 mins.
From Nagoya - about 3hrs from Nagoya to Nagano
Take the Chuo limited express (Shinano) that departs from Nagoya
Station and travels to Nagano (Nagano is the last stop). The
traveling time is about 3hrs. Then from Nagano Station catch
the direct bus from the East exit (as above) to Okushiga Kogen.
From Osaka - about 7hrs from center of Osaka
Departing Osaka, catch the Tokai Shinkansen to Nagoya (1hr) and
transfer to the Chuo limited express (Shinano) that departs from
Nagoya Station to Nagano Station (3hrs). The traveling time
from Osaka to Nagano is about 4hrs. Then from Nagano Station
catch the direct bus from the East exit (as above) to Okushiga Kogen.
From Route 292, head up into the Shiga Kogen highlands and at
the main Maruike junction turn left towards Ichinose /
Yakebitaiyama and Okushiga Kogen. You will see this
signposted and it will take you directly to Okushiga Kogen.
